The ways in which a design works best is how it works as a whole. There is certain things that may give an edge over the rest of the pack, one area of the design that may stand out than the other, but overall it all needs to work in together.
Looking at the way EMBT design, they have the element which are vital to making a design, with there structures in place, the form working around that and the right choice of materials giving the design that basic and simple piece to the puzzle. It really kind of is, just this big jigsaw puzzle and you got to match all the pieces together so they work within one another and this is what brings out the best in designs. Everyone of these designs is just another little piece to our landscape of the world. Eventually all these pieces will join together and will form something apart of this world. It is really not that complicated and you just got to go with what you know best as Enric Miralles relates to his work, “Each of the projects responds in a concrete way to particular intentions. This idea of the concrete, of concrete architecture, always seemed to me to be the best way to define my work.” He has just gone to the basics of what he knows and this will help him through his way of design.
Each piece has its own driver for the design, which in some way affects the design aesthetically, socially or environmentally, and with its own characteristics and your particular interests will bring the outcome you are hopefully looking for, as Miralles says, “In the end what interests me more is the reflective material quality of the built work, the complexity of its execution.” In which the strong and simple ways to go about design is by the form a design, with the structural implementations and finished by the material quality to give it the look it needs.
